Fresh Attacks Coming, Boko Haram Warns

After the deadly explosion at the parking lot of the Headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja yesterday, the Boko Haram sect who claimed responsibility has warned of impending attacks. In a statement translated from Hausa language, the Islamic fundamentalist group disclosed that it has foreclosed the option of dialogue with the government because of the statement credited to the Inspector General of Police when he was receiving ten armoured personnel carriers donated by the Governor of Borno State. The Inspector General had stated there that “the days of the group are numbered”. The sect also made it known that it has secured the services of mercenaries from Somalia.
Street Journal had earlier reported that the Boko Haram had laid out its terms of negotiation which includes the resignation of the Borno State Government as well as the prosecution of the immediate past Governor of Borno State.
The statement issued by the Boko Haram sect yesterday advised that civilians should restrict their movements in Maiduguri and Borno State in general; it also warned that people should be cautious in all the Northern states as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The statement also read in part “very soon, we will wage a jihad on the enemies of God and his prophet. Our jihadists have arrived from Somalia where they got serious training in warfare from our brethren who made Somalia ungovernable.
We assure all security agencies that we will frustrate their efforts. By the grace of God, with their armoured cars, they are no match for us with the training we got from Somalia.”
