Governors Finally Agree To Pay New Minimum Wage


The 36 state governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) have decided to commence modalities for the implementation of the N18,000 new minimum wage without further delay.
The decision was arrived at after a meeting of the Governors’ Forum earlier today. The Chairman of the forum, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amarchi said “on the issue of the new minimum wage, the forum resolved to comply with the provisions of the Minimum Wage Act,’’
The Nigerian Labour Congress has called for a nationwide warning strike to protest the non-payment of the new minimum wage by some states. The action has been slated for the 20th to 23rd of this month.
