The Nigeria Labour Congress has declared a three day warning strike to press home its demand for the implementation of the N 18,000 minimum wage. The strike starts on Wednesday July 20 and ends on Friday, July 22.
According to a statement issued by the NLC, the”general strike will be against the Federal, State and Local Governments as well as the private sector. ” The NLC President also disclosed that the Congress is taking the action because it has arrived at the conclusion that governments at all levels are not ready to pay the minimum wage. He went further that failure to implement the new wage structure will lead to an indefinite strike to be announced at a later date.
