Dahiru Musdapher Becomes Nigeria’s Chief Justice


President Goodluck Jonathan has announced the appointment of Justice Dahiru Musdapher as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. The appointment was made known via a statement signed by Dr. Reuben Abati and dated 27th August, 2011. He will act as the Chief Justice pending the approval of the Senate.

According to the statement, “the National Judicial Council had recommended the appointment of Honourable Justice Dahiru Musdapher, CFR as Chief Justice of Nigeria to replace the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice A.I Katsina-Alu, GCFR who is due to retire from the Bench on Sunday, 28th August, 2011 when he attains the mandatory retirement age of 70 years.”

Justice Dahiru Musdapher will be sworn in at the Council Chambers, State House, Abuja on Monday, 29th August, 2011 at 10 am.
