Katsina-Alu Swears in New Appeal Court President

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu has sworn in Justice Dalhatu Adamu as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal. He was sworn in at a ceremony at the chambers of the Supreme Court, Abuja on Monday.
The swearing in came on the heels of the approval of Justice Adamu’s appointment by President Goodluck Jonathan. The National Judicial Council (NJC) had recommended that Justice Ayo Salami, the President of the Court of Appeal be retired, following his suspension for alleged misconduct, apparently stemming from his refusal to apologize to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the NJC as earlier recommended by the council.
While swearing in the new President of the Court of Appeal, the Chief Justice charged him to ensure that he adheres to the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the discharge of his duties.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association has protested against the suspension of Justice Salami by the NJC. The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has done the same.
