The Federal House of Representatives has decided to investigate the recent sale of some banks by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The sale of the financial institutions had been fraught with alleged irregularities, especially that one of the banks was bought over by its debtors.
The Committee on Banking has been mandated by the House of Reps to commence investigation into the issue. The committee which has two weeks to submit its report to the House will hold public hearings. The decision of the House to probe the sale of the banks was sequel to a motion moved by Hon Dayo Bush Alebiosu.
