Nigeria’s State Security Service on Monday disclosed that the notorious Boko Haram sect enjoys patronage from politicians. This was made known as the agency paraded one Ali Sanda Umar Konduga aka Usman al-Zawahiri who was said to be the spokesman of the sect. According to Marilyn Ogar, the SSS spokesperson, Kondiuga’s arrest “further confirms the SSS position that some of the Boko Haram extremists have political patronage and sponsorship.”
According to Orgar’s statement, Konduga, a former political thug was recruited by a politician in Maiduguri and that he was behind threatening text messages sent to election tribunal judges and politicians including former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
