Explosions on Tuesday rocked the 1st Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army in Kawo, Kaduna. Another explosion was also reported at the Nigerian Airfotce Base while there were reports of blasts in some other parts of the city.
The attacks seem to be the latest in a string of attacks by the Jamaatu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad also referred to as the Boko Haram sect. The sect has killed hundreds of people since the beginning of this year.
Reports also stated that one of the bombers was gunned down around the Nigerian army base as he tried to escape. The casualty figure was unknown as of the time of filing this report.
The spokesperson of the 1 Div of the Nigerian Army which incidentally is the country’s largest military formation, Lt. Col Eduh described the attack on the military base as a “failed attack by a suicide bomber”.
