The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Henry Seriake Dickson, the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate in the Bayelsa’s gubernatorial elections, the Governor-elect of the state. Dickson emerged as his party’s preferred candidate ahead of the immediate past Governor, Timipre Sylva. Many believe Sylva lost the position because he fell out with the President.
According to the results released by INEC, the PDP won with 419,509 votes while the Action Congress of Nigeria followed with just 9,627 votes.
The Governor-elect, who is a lawyer by profession was a member of the House of Representatives. He had also served as the Commissioner of Justice in Bayelsa State.
