German Killed In Kano As Another JTF Raid Goes Awry!

For the second time in a spate of two months, the Joint Task Force has failed in its bid to rescue kidnapped foreign nationals from their abductors.

Raufach Edgar, a German national was killed in Kano by his abductors on Thursday morning before the Joint Task Force could rescue him.  Edgar who was an Engineer with Dantata and Sawoe was kidnapped on January 26 at Zaria Road. He was taken by two gunmen and bundled into the booth of an Opel Vectra with registration number Kano AA 2 NSR.

Men of the JTF were informed about the hideout of Edgar’s abductors and they subsequently swooped on the Danbare area, opposite Bayero University, Kano’s new campus. Street Journal gathered that the German was killed before the JTF could rescue him or arrest the kidnappers.

It will be recalled that a similar raid had gone awry in March when a Briton and an Italian were killed in Sokoto.  Street Journal’s investigations revealed that the Sokoto raid failed largely because the residents of the area had been pre-informed by security agents who urged them to leave the area so as not to be caught in a cross fire.
