Emir Escapes Suicide Bomb Attack In Yobe


The Emir of Fika who doubles as the Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs, Mohammed Abali Ibn Idrissa on Friday escaped a suicide bomb attack. The incident happened just after the Friday prayers at the Potiskum Central mosque located in the Emir’s palace.

The suicide bomber was noticed trying to get close to the traditional ruler. A policeman attached to the Emir however barred the bomber. Seeing that he might end up being prevented from achieving his aim, the bomber brought out a gun which had been concealed in his clothes. The bomb on him however exploded before he could open fire.

At least four people were injured by the blast. The Emir’s orderly and the suicide bomber also died in the attack.

The Shehu of Borno was the target of a similar attack weeks ago.
