The Super Falconets’ hope of winning the bronze medal in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup was dashed on Saturday morning as the team lost 1-2 to host narion, Japan. Yoko Tanaka drew the first blood with a long range shot in the 24th minute while Japan’s second goal came in the 50th minutes minute.
A free kick from Desire Oparanozie lifted Nigeria’s hope as she scored in the 73rd minute. The Nigerian ladies’ efforts to level up with their Japanese counterparts proved futile.The Falconets were runners up in the last edition of the competition in Germany.
