Abducted ACN National Vice Chairman Found Dead Despite Payment Of Ransom!


Dr Chudi  Nwike Ogbunike, the Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Anambra State has been killed by his abductors. Nwike who was the Deputy Governor of the state under Governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife in the botched Third Republic was kidnapped on March 19. The party has confirmed the death of the astute politician whose body has been identified by the Anambra State Chairman, Amaechi Obidike and other top members at the Agbor Police Station in Delta State. .

It had earlier been reported that the kidnappers made contact with the family of the deceased and demanded ransom amounting to N 30 million in foreign currency. According to the Anambra State chapter of the party, the victim’s younger brother opened negotiations with the kidnappers and eventually they agreed to release the former Deputy Governor on the payment of N 5 million.

The party also disclosed that the ransom was delivered to a location i Delta State through a courier as the kidnappers rejected the idea of the wife, brother or any family member going to drop the ransom. “Rather than release the former Deputy Governor, the kidnappers seized the courier and the money on April 5, 2013 and cut off all communications till his body was found”, the party stated.

The Action Congress of Nigeria has therefore called on the law enforcement authorities to track down the abductors and killers of the late politician even if they could not save him when he needed help.
