Former Minister Abducted By Gunmen In Maduguri!


Dr Shettima Ali Monguno, a former Minister of Petroleum was on Friday kidnapped in Maiduguri. Monguno who had served at various times as Minister in charge of the Air Force and Internal Affairs and as Federal Commissioner for Trade and Industries was abducted at the Mafoni Mosque in Maiduguri after he observed the Friday juma’at prayers.

Though no person or group has officially claimed responsibility for the abduction as of the time of filing this report, it is believed that the perpetrators might be members of the Boko Haram sect. Incidentally, the 87-year-old former Minister was kidnapped barely a week after the Joint Task Force stated that it had information that the Boko Haram sect might embark on the use of kidnappings as a new tactic in their wave of terror across the country.
