Two days after a Boko Haram gun attack left 20 people dead in Borno State, the deadly sect struck in Kano on Monday evening as two bomb explosions rocked the Sabon Gari area of the Kano State capital. Sabon Gari is mainly inhabited by non-indigenes.
Not less than 20 people are believed to have been killed in the blasts. About 11 people were also injured, though there are fears that the casualty figure might increase. One of the explosions occured at a drinking joint in Igbo Enugu Road while the second explosive device went off where some people were enjoying a snooker game in New Road.
The spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, Magaji Musa Majiya confirmed the incident but said the casualty figure could not be released until after a proper appraisal of the crime scene.
