Not less than 28 students of the College of Agriculture, Gujba in Yobe State were shot dead in an early morning attack believed to have been carried out by members of the Boko Haram sect.
Street Journal gathered that gunmen stormed the hostel blocks of the college in the early hours of Sunday and fired on sleeping students. Some students who tried to escape into surrounding bushes were also gunned down by the terrorists.
As of the time of filing the report, an official at the Damaturu Specialist Hospital disclosed that 28 bodies had been the received and they were told to expect more.
While speaking on the incident, Lazarus Eli, the spokesman of the military task force in the state said “Boko Haram terrorists went into the school and opened fire on students while they were sleeping.”
Some months back, the terrorist group attacked the hostel blocks of a secondary school in Mamundo, throwing explosives and shooting at the students.
Yobe State is one of the states in which the Federal Government put under state of emergency due to incessant terror attacks.
The latest attack came barely a week after Mallam Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the terrorist group who was believed to have been killed during a gun battle released a new video claiming that he is alive and well.
