The Deji of Akure, Ondo State, Oba Adebiyi Adesida has joined his ancestors. Street Journal’s findings revealed that the monarch died in his palace on Sunday morning.
Oba Adesida ascended the throne three years ago after his predecessor, Oba Oluwadare Adepoju Osupatadola III was deposed following his involvement a fight in which hot ash was poured on his wife on the streets of Akure. Oba Adepoju’s ascension had been preceded by a legal tussle which arose after the transition of Oba Adebobajo Adesida. The candidate who was picked to succeed Oba Adebobajo Adesida was eventually rejected by majority of the kingmakers, leading to a legal battle and the extension of the regency of Princess Adeyinka Adesida.
Though the death of Oba Adebiyi Adesida has been confirmed by palace sources, the death may not be officially announced until after 7 days according to Akure tradition.
