While Nigerians are still discussing and analyzing the likely effects of the 18-page letter in which former President Olusegun Obasanjo openly accused Dr Goodluck Jonathan of trying to perpetuate himself in power and pull Nigeria back as well as hounding perceived political opponents among other things, the two leaders held a meeting and had breakfast together in Kenya on Thursday.
Both had been invited by President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to grace the country’s 50th independence anniversary. Chief Obasanjo pulled a surprise when he showed up at the Intercontinental Hotel where President Jonathan was lodged. Both Nigerian leaders had a meeting in which they spoke for about 30 minutes after which Obasanjo left for the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani where the celebration was held. Sources within the Presidency described the meeting as “fruitful”.
