Yaya Toure Beats Mikel To Win African Footballer of The Year Award


Ivory Coast and Manchester City of England’s midfield jewel, Yaya Toure on Thursday emerged Africa’s best footballer of the year. Toure beat compatriot, Didier Drogba and Nigeria’s John Mikel Obi to clinch the title.
Though Obi won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 as well as the honor he won with his club, Toure emerged the prefrrred candidate of the Confederation of African Football.
Nigerians however still had things to cheer about as Coach Stephen Keshi was named Africa’s best coach while U-17 wonder kid, Iheanacho was given the Most Promising Talent Award.
