Danger Averted as Medview Aircraft Makes “Precautionary” Return


A Medview aircraft flying from Lagos to Abuja on Saturday made an air return to Lagos. The airline described the plane’s return as “precautionary”.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737, with Registration number 5NBPB  had 99 passengers and 5 crew members on board.  It took off from the Murtala Mohammed Airport at 9.12 am and landed safely five minutes later.

In a statement, Yakubu Dati, the spokesperson of Aviation Parastatals made it known that investigations have been commenced by the Accident Investigation and Preventive Bureau as well as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority “to ascertain the cause of the air return”. Dati also called on the general public, especially aviation stakeholders not to sensationalise an incident that is already under control.
