NJC Suspends Rivers Chief Judge


The National Judicial Council has suspended the Acting Chief Justice of State, Justice P.N C Agumagu.
The decision to suspend the Acting CJ was made known in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Information of the NJC, Mr Soji Oye who stated that the decision was taken at the emergency meeting of the council on Wednesday.
Section 271(1) of the Constitution which gave the council the power to recommend a judge for appointment as the Chief Judge for appointment as the Chief Justice of a state was cited by the council. The NJC also went on to state that at no time did it recommend Agumagu for appointment as the Chief Jusge of Rivers State.
