Ogun Police Uncovers Baby Factory, Rescue 9 Pregnant Women


The Ogun State Police command has discovered a baby factory in Akute area, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State  where some suspects including pregnant women were apprehended.

According to a statement issued by DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Anti Crime team attached to Ajuwon Division got an intelligence report of the existence of the factory where pregnant women are kept to produce babies for sale around 11 am on Thursday and swung into action immediately.
Adejobi stated that the owner of the factory one Mrs Angella Chigozie,39,was arrested after several searches were conducted on the building complex located at No 9,Sebanjo Crescent,off Fabolude Bus Stop Akute Ogun State.

About 9 pregnant women aged between 16 and 22 yrs were met and apprehended with some accomplices  in the compound. The owner of the factory and the affected pregnant women have confessed to the crime.
The owner also confirmed that her husband,Emmanuel Chogozie, was in the know of the business.

She further stated that she pays N 70,000 or N 80,000  to each of  the pregnant women after delivery out of the N 300,000 paid to her for a new born baby by her customers.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikemefuna Okoye, accompanied by the Area Commander, Otta, ACP Titi Kayode, the Police PRO Muyiwa Adejobi, the Divisional Police Officer Ajuwon SP Muritala  and other police officers visited the scene and conducted investigators and journalists round the building.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the case be transferred to the Department of Investigation Eleweran Abeokuta immediately for thorough investigation as more information would be revealed.

CP Okoye appealed to the general public to assist by giving information to the police in the course of their investigation.
