The Ogun State Police Command moved further in its bid to rid the state of hoodlums and ensure a crime free Easter celebration on Saturday as all divisions in the command raided black sports in their jurisdictions and arrested almost 110 suspects all over Ogun State.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the command’s spokesman disclosed that the areas where the raids were carried out included Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Ilaro, Otta and Abeokuta area commands. He also stated that the operations were supervised by the Deputy Commissioner in charge, Department of Operations DCP Akpoebi Agberebi.
“The command worked on the intelligence gathered from the State Intelligence Bureau of the command on dangerous black sports in Ogun which propelled the raids and eventually led to the arrest of the suspects. The command had earlier vowed to sustain its raid on black sports where” bad boys” converge to plan and execute their evil acts with a view to being proactive and flushing hoodlums out of Ogun and improve on protection of lives and property of the citizenry”, Adejobi stated.
The spokesman told Street Journal that the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye has ordered concerned Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to screen the suspects properly so that only those found wanting will be charged to court.
In another development, policemen attached to Ibafo Division of the command arrested one Ali Mohammed, from Port Harcourt around 2 am on Sunda. The suspect, an Arabian, was arrested at Moko near Ibafo.
While responding to a distress call from the area, policemen met about 4 armed men who were robbing the occupants of a house. The PPRO stated the police team dislodged the robbers and arrested one of them. He also disclosed that the CP has also instructed the Divisional Police Officer in Ibafo to look for the fleeing robbers and apprehend them.
