Police Arrest 3 Robbers on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway


While restating his commitment to the fight against crimes and criminals, the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye announced the arrest of three suspected armed robbers in the state.

CP Okoye stated this while commending the officers and men attached to Ibafo Division and the Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) Ogun State at SARS office Magbon Abeokuta for arresting three armed robbers on the popular long bridge along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway aroumd 2.20 pm on Saturday.

According to a statement signed by the PRO of the command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, “the Commissioner of Police also expressed his satisfaction with the full execution of the special Operation Order designed by the command recently to tackle crimes and criminality in the state by officers and men of the command;that any achievement recorded by the command is a result of the commands proactive measures vis a vis the execution of the Operation Order.

The command,with the operation order,will constantly raid black spots and patrol major highways and dangerous routes in all nooks and crannies of Ogun state including riverine areas to checkmate the excesses of men of the under world.

The suspects arrested on the bridge,who have been terrorising commuters and road users in the axis,have confessed to the crime, and they include Christopher Abuo, Nwanorim Ukachkwu and Ali Segun. All are adults and have been detained at the SARS office for further investigation.

As at the time of the arrest,the police could get only one locally made pistol, some ammunition and police and military wears(the ones they use for their robbery operations) with them. The suspects are assisting the police to recover their cache and apprehend other fleeing members of the robbery gang as soon as possible”.

In another development,the police detectives attached to Agbado Division of the command have arrested two suspected kidnappers namely Philip Okere and Ugho Samuel at Agbado Road,Dalemo Agbado Ogun State on Saturday 10th May at 9.45 pm.
According to the complainant, Folorunsho Abraham,the duo attempted to kidnap his grand children,Damilola Folorunsho,6, and Olaitan Folorunsho,5, at the said address;and the suspects were questioned about their mission in the area,they could not give any satisfactory explanation.

Adejobi made it known that the suspects will soon be transferred to the department of criminal investigation Eleweran Abeokuta for investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police CP Ikemefuna Okoye.
