The headquarters of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, located in Zone 7, Abuja was on Wednesday gutted by fire. Street Journal gathered that the fire started early on Wednesday morning. It was also gathered that the fire started from the third floor where the office of the Chairman of the Federation, Aminu Maigari is located.
The NFF had been enmeshed in a leadership tussle for some time. A court order sacked the chairman but the world football ruling body, FIFA intervened and placed a suspension on Nigeria, thereby forcing his reinstatement. Efforts to impeach Maigari also proved futile as he was reinstated.
There were several allegations of financial impropriety levelled against the NFF chairman.
