No fewer than 20 members of the Boko Haram terrorist group were killed in Buratai, Borno State on Sunday. The terrorists lost their lives during an attack on the country home of Major General Tukur Buratai, the former Commander of the Niger Delta Special Task Force.
More than 50 insurgents reportedly stormed the town situated about 215 km from Maiduguri on motorcycles and Hilux vans and attacked the General’s house and a primary school which they torched.
Incidentally, Sunday’s attack is the second onslaught against Major General Tukur Buratai’s house this year as the house was attacked in February. In the February attack, a soldier was killed during a shootout with the terrorists who were armed with rifles and rocket launchers.
The tide however turned on Sunday as the soldiers guarding the General’s house responded swiftly while the civilian anti-terror group too rose against the terrorists. They reportedly entered the town through Bunu Yadi, a town believed to have been captured by Boko Haram in Yobe State.
