But for providence and probably some precautionary measures, the Ibadan North West/ South West Federal Constituency seat would have become vacant, thereby necessitating a bye-election to fill it.
Street Journal’s findings revealed that the member representing the constituency in the House of Reps had gone to visit a female friend around the Bolumole, Ring Road area when suspected car snatchers attacked him as he was leaving the lady’s house.
Eye witnesses said the apparently well “fortified” young Honourable, who is also the son of a senior chief on the Olubadan line put up a good resistance and struggled with the robbers. “He was shot at, but the bullet didn’t penetrate. That was when he fled,” a resident of the neighbourhood told Street Journal.
Street Journal also gathered that the suspected robbers were unable to steal the lawmaker’s Toyota Camry and they too left shortly after their victim escaped.
Though some have concluded it was a robbery incident, some others have not ruled out other motives in the attack.
Neither Honourable Akinade Fijabi, who is regarded as one of the not so visible Oyo State reps, nor his media aide could be reached on phone as of the time of filing this report.
