Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State has attributed the suffering of the residents of the state under the present administration of his successor, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, to capital flight.
The former governor, who is one of the governorship aspirants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, at the weekend said that experience matters a lot in governance.
Contrary to his style of administration while in office, which patronised professionals in the state, as well as local contractors, which was said to have kept money in circulation within the state, he alleged that his successor patronises foreign contractors, ignoring the professionals in the state.
Alao-Akala maintained that the resultant capital flight was responsible for the sufferings being experienced today in the state, because, as a very close person to the grassroots, “I know how to meet their yearnings and aspirations.”
Recalling the allegations of a huge debt profile left by the ousted governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, by his successor, Ayodele Fayose, the former Oyo State governor described it as maladministration, stressing that he left no debt as governor of Oyo State.
