Former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje may be in for a hard time as his former party, People’s Democratic Party PDP has perfected plans to frame him up on fathom terror attacks in Gombe State.
Impeccable sources told our correspondent that the leadership of PDP in the state had crossed the rubicon to link the former governor to the orgy of violence that has ravaged the state in recent times. The plan has however, become a common knowldge as the rift between Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State and his immediate past predecessor Senator Danjuma Goje has taken a dangerous dimension with the Governor calling for the arrest of the Senator.
Dankwambo who called on Security operatives to act swiftly on the ex-Governor accused him of unleashing mayhem on him (Dankwambo) and the citizens of the state.
The Governor, represented by his chief of Staff, Alhaji Ahmed Yayari Ahmed made the plea recently at a joint press conference with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.
He alleged that the Governor was attacked by Danjuma Goje sponsored thugs popularly called “yan kalare” in Gombe state, on the day the Governor visited Kasheri town.
He said the conference was aimed at telling the world the atrocities being perpetuated by the senator through his sponsored ‘Kallare’ group.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised a false alarm on violence against the PDP state government in Gombe led by Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had accused Governor Dankwambo of working hard to obliterate the APC presence and also victimize the party’s members in the state.
According to Ahmed however, “This allegation is completely baseless and clear fabrication by the APC in an attempt to discredit and distract the hard working and humble Governor Dankwambo, overheat the polity and stall the wheel of progress in the state.
The Dankwambo administration has insisted that since Goje left the PDP, the APC leader in the state and former Gombe state governor has been orchestrating violence and causing confusion, all in an attempt to undermine and dislodge the PDP-led administration in the state.
On Thursday, December 18th 2014, it was alleged that Senator Goje mobilized a team of political thugs who ambushed and attacked the convoy of Governor Dankwambo with dangerous weapons while the governor was on his way from a federal university located at Kashere where he had gone for a visit on the invitation of the Vice Chancellor.
The thugs, it was further learnt unleashed terror on the governor’s entourage, injuring some persons and destroying some vehicles in the convoy.
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed however, accused the PDP of being irresponsible.
A source close to Goje confided in our correspondent that Dankwanbo is like a drowning man looking for every available straw to hold on to for survival. He said the Governor had failed the people of the state and was only looking for a scape-goat. He said throughout Goje’s eight-year old administration in Gombe State as Governor, there was not a single incident of violence or terror attacks in the state. ”He has nothing to do with violence going on in the Northeast region of the country”, he said, stressing that ”people should stop playing politics with the lives of innocent people of Gombe state”
Our source however, accused Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo of ordering the police and the Army to break into Senator Goje’s family house, tear-gassing, arresting his relations and ordering the removal of all APC billboards and posters in Kashere town.
