The Adamawa Progressive Movement (APM), a pressure group, on Sunday called for the probe of alleged N22 billion expenditure incurred by Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, when he was Acting Governor for just 86 days.
Mr Sunday Wugira, the group’s convener, who made the call at a press conference in Yola alleged that most of the projects executed by the Fintiri administration were sited in areas controlled by insurgents.
Wugira said the Fintiri administration deliberately sited projects in some villages of Madagali and Michika Local Government Areas, hence there was the need to probe the N22 billion expenditure which he incurred in less than three months.
According to him, lack of proper accountability has been the bane of development in the state, adding that APM has taken it upon itself to henceforth seek probity and accountability from government in the state.
“Our quest to beam our search light on the administration of Fintiri follows the serious questions of financial sleaze which his 86 days administration left unanswered.
“There is also contract for the Faculty of Law in Adamawa State University Mubi that needs to be verified,’’ Wugira said.
Wugira further said that the group would also beam its searchlight on the activities of the current administration in the state and make its findings known very soon.
Fintiri became Acting Governor in July 2014, following the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Mr James Ngilari.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, however, later sacked Fintiri and ordered that Ngilari who had challenged his impeachment in court be sworn-in as governor.
