A prominent businessman and politician in Aliero, Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Lemi, has been killed by unknown gunmen.
An eyewitness and security guard attached to the residence of the deceased, Habibu Shehu, told newsmen in Aliero on Saturday that the late Lemi was murdered at his residence on Friday night.
He said that his employer’s killers rode on motorcycles and came in batches, numbering about six, all wearing masks.
Shehu explained that the hoodlums first overpowered him by pinning him down to the ground before gaining access into the house at about 8:30 pm, where they met and shot dead his boss before they fled.
Confirming the incident, Mr Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesman of the Kebbi State Police Command, said the command had commenced thorough investigations and had intensified efforts at trailing the killers.
Alhaji Buhari Mohammed, the Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly and friend of the deceased, who also confirmed Lemi’s murder, described the incident as a set-back to politics and business activities in the state.
The late Lemi, was aged 68, is survived by three wives and 22 children, and has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Aliero.
