Ambode’s Cabinet: Lagos Lawmakers Constitute Ad-Hoc Committee To Screen Nominees

The Lagos State House of Assembly has set up a 15-member ad-hoc committee to screen 36 commissioner and special adviser nominees whose names were earlier submitted by the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi  Ambode, for appointment into his cabinet.

Ambode had on Sept. 21, sent the list comprising 23 nominees for appointment as commissioners, and 13 as Special Advisers, to the Assembly for screening and approval.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who announced the names of members of the committee during Tuesday’s plenary, urged them to screen the nominees thoroughly.

Obasa also explained that the aim of the screening was to ensure that only the best hands were appointed to assist the governor in running the affairs of Lagos State in order to move it forward.

The committee is expected to submit its report to the House of Assembly on October 13, when the lawmakers will resume plenary following a brief adjournment.
