A 26-year-old lady, Nancy Keme Dickson, the younger sister to the Bayelsa State’s Governor, Seriake Dickson, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at the Okaka suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. The gunmen also seized her sales girl.
The gunmen, numbering four, were said to have stormed Keme’s shop at about 2.50pm, yesterday, in a Lexus Jeep. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen trailed their victim to her shop along Okaka Road, Yenagoa where she and her sales girl were forcibly taken away to an unknown destination.
The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of the Bayelsa State Governor’s within the state capital.
Nancy Dickson was said to have been kidnapped in broad daylight by four armed men who trailed her to her shop.
The gunmen stormed the shop and whisked her away to an unknown destination along with her salesgirl.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ansim Butswat, who confirmed the incident said that the Police were on top of the situation.
“On the 19th of December, 2015, at about 1450hrs, four unknown gunmen in an ash-coloured Lexus jeep, trailed one Nancy Keme Dickson, 26 years, to her shop at Okaka road, Yenagoa, and abducted her and her sales girl to an unknown destination,” Mr Butswat said.
According to him, security agencies were on the trail of the kidnappers as efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductor.
Butswat said immediately the command was alerted, it embarked on a stop and search/cordon operations in a bid to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
“Efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductors and investigation is ongoing.”
