Reports just reaching The Street Journal indicate a filling station, Oando, on Lawanson Road, Surulere, Lagos and two other houses have been completely razed by the fire ignited by a petrol tanker.
It has been gathered that the fire started from a truck that was discharging petrol into an underground storage tank at the station.
Presently, Fire service officials from the Federal Fire service as well as state fire service have been able to contain the spread of fire to other houses in the vicinity.
Policemen from Lawanson Division as well as Staff of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) are battling with the chaotic traffic situation caused by the fire outbreak.
The Public Relations of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South-West Region, Inrahim Farinloye who confirmed the fire outbreak, to Daily Trust via a text message however advised members of the public close to the scene of fire to vacate the area in another not to be trapped in the inferno.
He said it would also help responders to fight the fire from all end without fear of anyone being trapped.
