From every indication the reconciliation moves by Pastor Chris Oyahkilome and estranged wife, Anita, to reconcile tje differences and Dave their marriage of 25 years, have broken down irreconcilably.
Anita Oyakhilome’s lawyers confirmed this in a piblished statement on the website of the law firm in the United Kingdom.
The statement said she has finally separated from Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
The lawyers said she has finalised her divorce from Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy.
Solicitors, Attwaters Jameson Hill, in a statement on her behalf, said the divorce was finalised on February 8 and hinted that she had dropped Oyahkilome from her name for Obhodaghe, while also severing ties with the church.
The statement, published on the United Kingdom-based law firm’s website, read, “We have been requested by Anita Oyakhilome to confirm that on 8th Februray 2016 a decree absolute was pronounced in the High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division dissolving her marriage to Christian Onehirokpeana Oyakhilome.
“Anita Oyakhilome would like to confirm that she is no longer involved in or part of Christ Embassy AKA Believers LoveWorld INC.”
Pastor Oyakhilome is the General Overseer of world wide Christ Embassy.
Anita filed filed for divorce on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.
It was alleged that Pastor Chris had hitherto given inkling into the breakup of his marriage when in a speech he reportedly gave on May 16, 2014 at the church branch in Bermondsey, UK, he said: “Some pastors’ wives think when they marry a pastor they are equal to the pastor.
“My wife thinks so.
“As a matter of fact, Rev. Tom was her pastor before I married her and Rev. Ray and Evangelist Owase were her leaders long before I married her. How come she thinks she’s senior to them now?
“I already started Christ Embassy before I married her. I didn’t marry her and said we should start Christ Embassy.
“I was already pastoring. I aready set my sail and knew my direction before I married her.
“I only said come and help me. Be careful of the friends you keep.
“My wife keeps friends who bring out the worst in her and help her see the worst in people instead of keeping friends that will help her vision, especially as the wife of a global pastor like me.”
The face-off was said to have taken a new dimension with Mr. Oyakhilome removing Anita’s name as a trustee of a United Kingdom’s branch of the church.
Mrs. Oyakhilome had for long headed the U.K branch of the church but her husband, before the sudden removal her name had since inception presided over the Board of Trustees of the charity.
Until then Anita was consistently listed as a prominent trustee, since 1996, when the branch was established.
It was learnt that she applied for “divorce on the ground that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.”
In her statement of case in support of petition at PRFD with number FD14001650, Pastor Anita however, accused her husband of having inappropriate relationship with some of his female staff members.
According to the statement, “the wife has discussed with the husband his appropriate relationship with some of his female staff members. She has explained that this has given her cause for concern. The husband has minimised her worries and taken no step to alleviate her grievances”, she had said in a statement of Claims.
Chris and Anita have two teenage daughters – Sharon and Charlyn.
