N5m Booty for Information on Abducted Anisulowo



Five million naira is to be given to anyone who has information to the whereabouts of the Kidnapped former Minister, Iyabo Anisulowo.

Ogun State Police Command gave this hint on Monday. Already two helicopters have been deployed for the purpose of rescuing her from the hands of her abductors.

Police said they were offering a cash reward to hasten Mrs. Anisulowo’s rescue. The abductors are said to have demanded N200m for her release.

In a statement the Command stated: “The Ogun State Police Command has offered N5m (Five million naira only) reward to any informant(s) who has useful information for the police on the kidnapping of the former senator and minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped recently at Sawonjo/Iganokoto area of Ogun State,”  the Police said.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that the Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, made the declaration after a security meeting with officers of the command, and other security chiefs in the state.

Those at the meeting included the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta, S. Danwalis, and the Director of Department of State Security Ogun State, Kabir Sanni.

“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State therefore appeals to the general public to support the police and give useful information that can assist in the rescue operation of the kidnapped victim,” the statement said.

He added the command had dedicated 09020911911, 08081774631, 08081766937 for the public to reach the police, with the assurance that informants would enjoy adequate security as their information would be made confidential.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solo­mon Arase ordered the deployment of the two helicopters on Saturday.

As part of efforts to rescue Anisulowo, Alli and some senior officers of the Command had, on Friday, shifted the operational base to Ilaro, headquarters of Yewa South Local Gov­ernment Area and other towns along Nigeria’s borders with neighbour­ing Republic of Benin.

Some armed men kidnapped Anisulowo last Wednesday, along the Sawonjo/Iganokoto Road in Yewa North Lo­cal Government area of the state.

The two choppers, which arrived on Satur­day, have been patrolling the likely hideouts of the suspected kidnappers in various areas within the state.

The search parties in­cluded Assistant Inspec­tor General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Com­mand Lagos, AIG Bala Hassan; Ali, Com­mander of the 35 Artil­lery Brigade, Brigadier General S. Danwalis; Director of the Depart­ment of State Security in the state,  Kabir Sanni and search teams from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and the office of the IGP, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The police boss in the state, who spoke on be­half of the teams, assured that the abducted former Minister of Education would soon be rescued unhurt and cul­prits apprehended.

He added that every officer of the Command and members of the search teams have been having sleepless nights, since the day of the inci­dent, strategising.

Ali thanked the IGP for his full support and concern towards the res­cue of the victim.

He also commended other security agen­cies, search teams and members of the public, particularly Ogun State Government for their support, assuring the public that every profes­sional strategy would be harnessed to make sure the kidnapped female politician is brought back home safely.
