The former Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, who is standing trial over alleged false declaration of asset and corruption, Thursday morning, opened his defence before the Code of Conduct Tribunal ( CCT), Abuja.
The Federal Government had arraigned Orubebe before the CCT for failure to declare his house in Abuja , while a Minister.
The Federal Government had earlier closed its case against Orubebe
The matter was to come up on 31st May, 2016 for the defendant to open his defence, but the CCT did not sit on that day.
The Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP) of th Federation, Moses S. Odiri appeared for the prosecution while Selekowei Larry (SAN) appeared for the defendant.
Meanwhile, Orubebe’s first witness, Akinwunmi Ajibola is presently giving evidence before the CCT.
