Earlier today it has become known about the governor being bombarded with stones, rotten fruits and vegetables by the disgruntled locals as a reaction to the worsening economic situation in the state. Reacting to the development Kingsley Fanwo, the governor’s press secretary, wrote: “We are not unaware of scheming by change resistors to sponsor attacks against government officials. Sponsoring attacks against the governor will not stop our march to restore sanity to the polity.
The administration of Governor Yahaya Bello will soon publish the names of corrupt citizens of the state who are behind the ghost workers syndrome.”
According to the governor, the real reason of the attack was the discontent of those who are against his radical reforms in the state’s civil service. He is convinced that thugs were hired by his political enemies who are pursuing personal interests. Besides, Mr Bello expressed his gratitude to the citizens and security operatives who apprehended some of the attackers and urged them to remain resolute in their support towards the restoration of the “lost glory of the state”.
He also promised that the “politically motivated attack” would be thoroughly investigated and those found guilty be punished. By the way, this is not the first time the governor was attacked, there’s information about Mr Bello being assaulted during his visit at Ankpa, the headquarters of Ankpa Local Government Area of the state.
