Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, in company of Dr. Yomi Ogunbiyi on Thursday, was at the Presidential Villa to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
At the end of the meeting, which was behind closed doors, and lasted about an hour, the Nobel Laureate said he came to see the President on national matters.
When Soyinka emerged from the meeting, which was described as a private one, he was surprised to find journalists waiting for him.
And he said: “I didn’t come to see you people,” as he attempted to break through a barricade set up by the journalists.
When it became clear to him that the reporters would not relent, Soyinka said, “I came to discuss national and international matters, general matters, that’s all”
When probed further of the discussion, he declined to give further details.
Soyinka declared, “I will be holding a press conference in about a week. You can ask me any question then, but now, please I will just like to get away.”
