A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Jimoh Ibrahim, has filed a suit against the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee of the party.
The suit, which was filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja, is challenging the conduct of the primary for the party’s governorship candidate which produced Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
Ibrahim joined as defendants, Senators Ben Obi, Odion Ugbesia, and Abdul Ningi. Others are Karibu Usman, Dayo Adeyeye, Aisha Aliyu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Hearing in the matter was, however, stalled after counsel to Ibrahim, Oyodele Oyelana, informed the court that he could not effect service of the court papers on the defendants.
Defence counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), asked the judge to adjourn the case till after the vacation because the non-service of the papers had shown lack of urgency in the matter. In his ruling, Justice Okon Abang, said the order of another Federal High Court in Abuja for the matter to be heard during vacation was still subsisting.
Abang said he would communicate the new date to the parties
