Court Admits Evidence Against Badeh

Federal High Court Abuja, presided over by Justice Okon Abang has admitted in evidence, documents comprising investigation activities that validate the ownership of the Visa Gold Account, which Customer Relation Manager with the First Bank, Fatima Dauda, said belongs to Air Vice Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd).
The bank manager, the 9th prosecution witness on the ongoing trial of the former Chief of Air Staff, Badeh, said the documents relate to the opening and operation of the said account
However, in a cross examination, the witness told the court that not all deposits were made by her, but she acknowledged that the tellers were carefully filled by her before depositing into the account.
While questioned on the nature of her management of the Visa Gold Account, she stated that no deposit was made physically by Badeh, but they were made on his directives.
The defence counsel, chief Akin Olujimi (SAN) laid emphases on the contradiction on the payees’ name, as some bears the name Fatima Adamu, while some bears “self” as the depositor, the witness went further to express that the depositors name “self” is synonymous to the owner of the account who is the first defendant.
It is however recalled that about 400,000 USD which was deposited into the Visa Gold Account on four instalments between October 8 and 23, 2013 bears self as the depositors name; the witness claimed that the deposited amount on those dates were brought in by officers who are Badeh’s ADCs.
The matter was further adjourned till November 22 and 23 for continuation of trial.
