A four-year-old daughter of a lecturer in Engineering Department at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Dr. Kingsley Ogbeide has been shot dead by gunmen who attacked the lecturer’s residence in Benin City.
Two other children of the lecturer between the ages of six and two also sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds during the siege at 19, Enadeghe Street, Off Ugbowo-Lagos Road, Evbuomore Quarters, in the state capital.
It is not yet clear if the gang came for their father. The Police said they are investigating the incident, and will bring the killers to book. No arrest has been made.
The gunmen who scaled the wall fence of the building broke into the lecturer’s apartment to unleashed terror on his family about 4am, last Saturday.
Recalled that similar killings of harmless, innocent and defenceless children by gunmen during operation has become a recurrence decimal in Benin City.
Among reported cases included that of a four-year-old Iwinosa Enagbare and her mother, Mrs Itohan Enagbare, 28, butchered in their apartment at 2, Osazee Close, Off Okunseri Street, Off Dumez Road, Ivbiotor Quarters, Benin City on November 9, 2015.
