IBB University To Build 10,000-bed Bostels — VC


The Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, Mohammed Maiturare, said on Wednesday that the institution had evolved a Public/Private Partnership to develop 10, 000-bed hostels for its students.

Mr. Maiturare, who disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lapai, said the first phase of the project would commence with the construction of a 5,000-bed hostel at the university.

He said the project would solve the accommodation problem at the institution. The vice chancellor explained that of the 11,000 students at the university, only 2,000 students were accommodated. He, however, assured that the management of the institution has taking concrete measures to address its accommodation problem through collaboration with private developers.

Mr. Maiturare said that the second phase of the hostels project was expected to commence immediately after the successful completion of the first phase and its handover to the university. The vice chancellor also expressed delight with the cordial relationship existing between the university and its host communities.
