Magu’s Confirmation Hearing Fails to Hold at the Senate

Contrary to expectations, the Senate failed to hold confirmation hearing of the Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, as the commission’s Chairman
At Wednesday’s plenary, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, had hinted that the confirmation hearing would commence Thursday.
However, on the order paper of the Senate for Thursday, the hearing was conspicuously absent, as it was not listed on the programme.
Officials of the EFCC led by the Acting Chairman, Magu, were at the Senate Thursday morning, waiting to be called for the hearing which never came.
Magu’s name along with four other members of the commission were sent to the Senate by the Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo in June but the letter was not read on the floor until July 14, this year.
