The leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), Youths Renaissance, has told the Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum that he was not wanted in the All Progressives Congress.
This is sequel to Wednesday’s declaration by Fayose that he is under pressure to switch camp and defect to the APC but will not.
The Governor said that he was not planning to join the party if he eventually dumps the PDP.
Fayose had said: “Some people have been making overtures to me to join the APC, but I cannot join them” .
The Governor alleged that a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who he said worked hard to ensure victory for the APC during the 2015 general elections, was subsequently abandoned by those he helped into power.
“With what have they repaid somebody like Asiwaju Tinubu; he worked and helped the party to secure victory but has been dumped. That is not a party I would be interested in joining,” Fayose said.
“One thing I would not allow is for anybody to rubbish our leaders in the South-West. Our leaders, including Asiwaju Tinubu must be accorded their due respect, as any attempt to rubbish them will be taken as a slap on the entire Yoruba race,” he added.
In response, however, the group noted that Fayose was a persona non grata in the APC.
The group said no sensible and reasonable party would welcome him except the corrupt and crisis-ridden PDP.
It described Fayose as a traitor, who cannot accuse the party of betraying anybody when he was a definition of treachery.
Collins Edwin, the group’s National secretary, in a statement, accused Fayose of betraying Prince Buruji Kashamu, the man who financed his election and was instrumental to his emergence as PDP governorship candidate for Ekiti State despite strong opposition against him by the Obas and other power brokers in the state.
The statement further urged the Governor to instead confront himself with the alleged looting of Ekiti State treasury under his stead, instead of worrying himself over the affairs of APC, which will form the next government in Ekiti State next year.
