Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC may have made a huge success in its quest to unravel the source of the mystery cash discovered in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. Street Journal investigations revealed that the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the anti-graft agency in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos has been linked to Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal.
Sources in the Presidency revealed that this was the reason why the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal was suspended.
The said money was money meant for upkeep and feeding of Internally Displaced persons (IDPs). The monies was realized from donors, grants to the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
According to Investigations, the money was managed by the wife of a former Head of State who incidentally owns an NGO located at the Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Further findings in the presidency by Street Journl revealed that the president, Muhammadu Buhari was furious when details of the discoveries were tendered to him by the anti-graft agency leadership. It was gathered that Buhari was said to have ordered the EFCC to get to the bottom of the matter and furnish him with further details of complicity of his senior aides for necessary action.
It was learnt that Buhari pointed out that he had to make a scape-goat of some close allied for Nigerians to take him serious in his avowed war against corruption.
Investigations are ongoing, more details as we get them.
