Nigeria Media Is Like A Nagging Wife– Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that he is not a friend of the press. Obasanjo said this during the launch of the French translation of a book “Making Africa Work” he co-authored with Emmanuel Mwamba at French Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.
The former President said the press was like a nagging wife that should be tolerated because whatever was not reported in the media had not happened.
According to Obasanjo, “With all due respect to my mothers and sisters, you know the press is like a nagging wife who has children for him.
“You have to tolerate it, or like a nagging husband for who you had children, you have to tolerate her or him, or a drunken husband, so that you will not think I’m being sexist today.

“I am not a friend of the media but I have to live with them, because the truth is that, in this day and age, whatever is not carried by media, has not happened.

“You need them and then they also need you. If that is the case, what do you do with them? If you shut your door against them, they will be nastier, so don’t shut your door against them, tolerate them.”
