The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to develop better strategies to ensure better future electioneering process.
This is even as he called on the Federal Government and other authorities concerned to provide the necessary logistics to enable the Commission succeed in its mandate.
The Oba who made the call on Monday in his palace in Benin, while playing host (REC) the recently deployed INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner to the state, Obo Effanga, also solicited support of all Nigerians for the Commission to enable it perform optimally in the discharge of its duties.
According to the royal father, the significant roles played by INEC, especially during the 2015 general election, has helped to deepen democratic process in the country.
The Monarch, who assured that the palace would help to encourage all eligible voters yet to be registered to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, encouraged the Commission to report any problems they may encounter in the various villages in the course of their duties in the state, adding that the palace was collaborating with state government to ensure effective security of lives and properties in the state
The Monarch later offered prayers for the well-being of the state in particular and the country at large.
Earlier, Effanga, told the Monarch that he was at the palace to seek his royal blessings and support.
