Husband Killer Maryam Sanda is now to face murder charges alongside her mother, Hajiya Maimuna Ajayi and two others.
At the resumed trial on Thursday, the police said the charges have been amended to include both mother and two other for the murder trial.
Maryam Sanda allegedly stabbed her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, son to former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to death in the early hours of Dec 19 in their West 2, Abuja residence.
Maryam Sanda had been married to Bilyaminu for two years and had a daughter together before the attack.
She was said to have attacked her husband based on allegations of infidelity after seeing a text message on his phone. She was said to have stabbed Bilyamin, who would have clocked 36 on November 23 multiple times.
After stabbing him, she allegedly drove him to the hospital for treatment but he did not survive the attack.
However, in the amended charges filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, the police said they find it expedient to add the mother of the accused, a former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Aliyu, and two others to the list of defendants.
While informing the trial Judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, of the new development, the prosecuting counsel, James Idachaba, said the prosecution had not been able to serve the new defendants.
The Judge then adjourned till December 14 for the arraignment of all the defendants.
Maryam Sanda was earlier arraigned on November 24 when she pleaded not guilty to the counts of murder of her husband.
She was then remanded in Suleja prison ahead of her trial on Thursday.
On Thursday, the new defence lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), made an oral application for the release of the widower from prison.
But the Judge refused the application and sent her back to prison.
The two-count charge against her reads:
