Two unemployed men – Oluwatoyin Soyombo, 52, and Taiwo Adeyemi, 45 were on Friday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy, stealing and N13 million fraud.
Soyombo resides at 12, Oguntiga St. while Adeyemi lives at 31, Olabode St., both in Ikotun, Lagos State.
They allegedly defrauded Haier Thermocool Company to the tune of N13.1 million.
The Prosecutor, W/Sgt. Felicia Okowri, told the court that Soyombo and Adeyemi committed the offences from Sept. 6 to Sept. 11 on Ilupeju Estate, Oshodi, and on Mushin Road, Isolo, Lagos.
Okwori said that Soyombo and Adeyemi forged a local purchase order in the name of Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Isolo Branch, and used same to defraud the company.
“They defrauded the company of 15 pieces of standing air conditioner, 20 pieces of split air conditioner and 10 pieces of IGWE power generator, all valued at N13. 1 million,” she said.
Okwori said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 287, 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowose, admitted them to bail in the sum N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Anifowose adjourned the case to Dec. 20 for mention.
